If your endocarditis is caused by bacteria, it will be treated with antibiotic (intravenous)  therapy.

If the endocarditis has damaged the heart, surgery may be necessary. Surgery is recommended if  heart valve is so damaged that it does not close tightly enough, and regurgitation occurs and antibiotic therapy doesn’t work.
